Biography
Mrs. Christina T. Stavros Kidonakis is a first‑generation Greek‑American, born and raised in Traverse City, Michigan. She graduated from Hope College in 2001 with a B.A. in Religion, where she was an active member of the Gospel Choir and served as a Bible Study Leader through Campus Ministries. Her theological studies continued at Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia, where she earned her Master of Divinity in 2005.
A true kairos moment arrived in 2014 when Christina was invited to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Boston to become the inaugural student in the newly established Certificate in Byzantine Chant program. She completed the full curriculum and, in 2016, became both the first student to finish the program from start to finish and the first woman to receive the Certificate in Byzantine Music on American soil.
Christina has offered her gifts to the Church in a wide range of ministries, including CrossRoad Institute, Effective Christian Ministry, hospital chaplaincy, and Byzantine music instruction. She is also the founder of the Synaxis of Orthodox Women Byzantine Cantors, which will gather for its fourth year in 2026. She is currently in her seventh year serving as Protopsaltria of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Joliet, Illinois.
She is the wife of Anthony and the mother of Georgios (5) and Aikaterina (2), grounding her ministry in the life of her family and the faith that shapes her vocation.
